Samsung Will Introduce 1080p Panels Next Year

Major phone makers are gradually taking the phablet route and rumor has it that the Korean giant, Samsung, is developing a new 4.99 1080p Super-AMOLED panel, probably for the upcoming Galaxy S4. Samsung’s upcoming flagship is expected to arrive at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2013, one of the most anticipated annual trade shows. As always, the event will be held in Las Vegas and the company may also take the wrap off other interesting handsets and technologies.

Last month, Samsung showcased a high resolution 10.1” display at 2560 x 1600 pixels, which will be used by the Nexus 10. There may be little logic behind releasing the Galaxy S4 within a year after the release of the Galaxy S3, especially when the latter is doing really well and rake up sales. The reason is, Samsung wants to immediately take the 1080p route to compete with upcoming handsets released by HTC, Sony and LG. Even ZTE is also preparing a powerful 1080p smartphone, to be released in 2013.
